Title: DOC BOSTON
Format: Documentary Feature
Genre: Historical Biopic
Theme: Helping Others
Logline: There's a difference between a superhero and a hero. Superheroes are fantasy. Heroes are real. And they're among us. But they're not defined by superpowers. It's their deeds that make them extraordinary.
DOC BOSTON is a documentary/narrative hybrid that tells the story of Dr. Frank Boston (1890-1960). Doc Boston was a WWI veteran and a member of the all African American army unit, Buffalo Soldiers. He was also a doctor, surgeon, and the first black American to found both a hospital and an ambulance corps in the United States. Doc Boston was forgotten by history... until now.
The U.S. Department of War shared a remarkable story about Doc Boston, highlighting his legacy and contributions that paved the way for future generations.
To celebrate the launch of the Doc Boston Adventures comic book, a live event was held at the National WWI Memorial in Washington, DC with special guest Kohio Pham, Marvel Comics Illustrator, and Michael Knight, Washington DC Fire and EMS Deputy Chief.
The Boston Legacy Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit established to raise awareness of a forgotten black American hero and role model for a new generation. Its mission is to provide a more complete and inclusive view of history, and to encourage youth interest in medicine, emergency medical services, and the sciences.
